Congrats to Obama and “Other”
Congrats to Obama and “Other”
It is frustrating to watch the entire democratic process. On one side you have the Republicans condemning the Democrats for believing in big government, and if we just spend more money we can fix all of our problems. On the other side you have the Democrats condemning the Republicans for supporting the profit loving thirst of big business. The irony of this stereotype is that both sides are right and wrong at the same time. The problem is that both big government and big business have combined power to the point where the citizens no longer have any political or economic clout. Both big government and big business are fatally flawed in that their only desire is to maintain the status quo, and thereby maintain their power. The world is becoming too complex and change is happening at such a rapid pace, that neither big government nor big business is able to adapt. Both are large bureaucracies, and bureaucracies are notorious for preserving the status quo at all cost. Bureaucracies are also infamous for trying to consolidate power at the highest level and ignoring the needs of customers. The result is that voters and consumers (who are one of the same) are disempowered and disenfranchised and as the world changes, we are left behind. We have serious problems that need creative solutions, but neither big government nor big business will ever generate any innovative idea that will actually work, and both will use their vast resources to make sure nothing changes.
Democrats can continue to mock Republicans for their support of big business, and Republicans can continue to mock the Democrats for their support of big government, but both are wrong. Whichever party (or a third party) is able to finally figure out how to dismantle big government and big business and restore the rights of citizens, will win the hearts and minds of the voters and finally fix many of the problems that plague us now. Next time you are tempted to be critical of the other political extreme, take a step back and focus your attention on the root of problem, the large bureaucracies that continue to run this country as if we citizens do not matter.
