Bill McCallum has provided us with his unique chart for our May temperatures. This is obviously a labor of love for Bill, as he compiles the weather data from the Bellingham Airport records dating back to 1949. We posted the April chart and you can find it by searching the 'Science + weather' category.
Bill notes that May actual high average was two degrees below the normal high average for the month. If you normalize the two warm days of 16th and 17th, then the actual average drops a full degree. A cold month however we look at it. The green is normal averages and the blue is our actual highs and lows during last month. The gray is the record setting highs and lows since 1949. I wish the numbers were easier to read, and we are working on that.
We'll continue to post these each month and Bill is compiling the first three months for posting later.
