The Panama Papers - Untold Story
What is not being said in the "lamestream media" (thank you Ms. Palin) is the nooze about who is holding the Panama Papers and the likelihood that anyone outside a priviledged few will ever see all of the documents. Margaret Kimberley, who writes the Black Agenda Report at Freedom Rider, provides some badly needed background info on where the papers are and who controls them...and it ain't encouraging. The piece is called The Panama Papers Problem. The article was also picked up by Counterpunch. Here is the crux of the matter:
Excerpt: "The documents now known as the Panama Papers were leaked to the German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) who then shared them with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). ICIJ is a non-profit but with its own problematic origins. It is funded in part by the Ford Foundation, Open Society Foundation, Kellogg Foundation and the Rockefeller Family Fund. ICIJ then worked with journalists around the world including from the Guardian and the McClatchy newspaper chain. They in turn will decide what will be kept secret and what will be shared with the public. The goal of revealing secrets instead turns into a plan to keep more secrets and to tarnish certain reputations based on bias and mysterious criteria."
So if you place your faith in outfits such as McClatchy (father of our own Bellingham Herald) and the Open Society Foundations (AKA George Soros), you will likely be disappointed. And who anointed the ICIJ as the watchman and arbiter of content disclosure? Again Juvenal echoes in our brain, "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
