And you are invited. 8 pm - and it will be over by 9 pm. The four Port Commission challengers will start speaking at 8:15 in the rotunda of the Whatcom County Courthouse: John Blethen, Ham Hayes, Mike McAuley and Doug Karlberg - in that order. All will be pledging support to whichever of them make it into the general election.

If you are for Port Reform, please make an effort to join us. Tip Johnson, a Port candidate four years ago, will be the MC. At about 8:35 we will have the first election results and the winners may be obvious. We will then have speeches from those moving on to the general election.

We hope to have a decent gathering of citizens there to show support for Port Reform. Please join us. You can come as late as 8:15 and only miss the early socializing.

And what happens if two challengers make it into the same race - leaving an incumbent out? Well, that is a dream and we the taxpayers of Whatcom County would win. Then it would be each challenger for himself with each of us backing our preferred candidate in a clean election campaign.

Again, please join us this evening. It will be a lively and fun rally.
