Last night, the six remaining members of the Bellingham City Council voted to appoint Dan Hammill as a member of the council.  He fills the seat representing the 3rd ward after Cathy Lehman resigned without serving out her elected term of office.  Riley Sweeney has an excellent interview with Dan Hammill on his Political Junkie website.  And Riley also live-blogged the special council meeting last night.  Always fun reading Riley's stuff.  

Dan intends to run for a regular four year term next year - after he serves out the one year left.  The next meeting of the City Council is Monday, January 5.  

Congratulations to Dan and the City Council on what I think is an excellent appointment.
