Elisabeth Britt over on her Latte Republic website has a new article that raises good questions about our county planning department.  The proposed 'Lincoln Park Retirement Center' for Lincolm Road between Blaine and Birch Bay is being denied by the county.  Why?  Elisabeth explores the issue in her article.  This senior living home would provide senior living residences plus suites for dementia patients.  There is a need for both these types of homes in Whatcom County.  

On my read, it seems the county planning staff just plain do not think this the right place for a senior living facility, even though the planning codes very specifically allow for it.  Maybe not the rule of law.  The article includes an action agenda with contacts to encourage the county to follow its own codes.
