They say they want to promote quality local meat products for local consumers, but the measure is written to assure dairies can more profitably grind up their 15 or so thousand GMO-fed, worn-out cows each year. They actively conceal this truth, and the fact that the architect on the Planning Commission has a personal financial interest in the industry. They are intent on rezoning much of the rural county for slaughterhouses and packinghouses, despite evidence and testimony indicating the county has no resources to adequately monitor and inspect widespread slaughter. We need and could barely support one slaughterhouse. What we really need is one slaughter facility and better provisions for butcher shops as an accessory use.
