I am slack jawed that local Democrat, Lisa Anderson, - a stalwart party member, an elected official, and a PCO  - has had the integrity to call out liberal corruption. I do not recall witnessing this ever before in my 50+ years of watching local politics. We liberals should be calling out abuses, lest the conservatives call them out, distort them, and get elected on them. The courage Lisa Anderson has shown is amazing.

Other news media has reported on this issue over the past few days, but I have not found any link to her full report. Please click the link below to see the PDF of the formal complaint Anderson submitted to the Washington State Democratic Party on Sepember 29th. Local politicians, political activists, and other interested parties can read for themselves what Anderson has exposed.

There is no doubt she will come under criticism by her fellow Democrats for putting this out in public. But the truth is, little or nothing would have been corrected if she had not. As she notes in her report, these corrupt and deceitful practices go back several years. They have been rumored by political junkies and, no doubt, by Democratic Party officials at both the local and state levels for years but any suspicions have been kept to whispers, without correction. We have the right to know that the local Democratic party leadership is deceiving the public.

Lisa Anderson will be accused of not being a loyal Democrat, when actually her loyalty to the values and principles of the party is more honorable than those who knew of the manipulations and those who benefited from these corrupt processes. Organizations like to promote their virtues of loyalty and integrity. But blind loyalty and integrity are mutually exclusive; you may have one or the other, but both are not possible. Blind loyalty is the police department that covers up the two-percent of bad apples in their ranks by being loyal...and sacrificing their integrity. Blind loyalty is going along with a corporation's deceitful practices so as not to risk one's career. Integrity, on the other hand, requires honesty and strong moral principals.

Bellingham Councilwoman Lisa Anderson is an elected representative whose sense of integrity places her community ahead of political party loyalty. Further, she had the integrity to put forward a formal complaint and to make it a public document. We should treasure her and support her. She is what politicians always say they are - but usually are not.
