Frankly, I'm stunned by the Herald's lead headline today. I did not realize that the national policy of Canada was focused on hurting us by buying our gas. Worse yet, it's probably deeper than that. After all, THEY buy boats and cars here and even CLOTHING at Bellis Fair, as well as other goodies in Fairhaven, Barkley Village and beyond. Shame, shame on those Canadians! What gives THEM the right to have a better economy and buy all that stuff here?

Is the Herald to be congratulated for exposing this plot threatening the economic security of Whatcom County? Is this accusatory headline supported by the article or the facts? Or perhaps, just perhaps, the Herald is having fun with us and selling a few more papers as a result. What's the harm in that?
