There are 12,298 ballots remaining to count. The auditor's office counted 5,545 ballots today, compared with 5,665 on Thursday.  Monday should see over 8,000 ballots counted because there will be few if any new ballots to pre-process. The last few thousand should be counted Tuesday and posted mid afternoon.

We can expect a nail biter for two races until at least Monday evening and perhaps right up into December with possible mandatory recounts.

Christina Maginnis now leads Sam Crawford with 26,036 votes to 25,435, for a 601 vote spread or a 1.2% lead. On Thursday evening, she was behind by 187 votes or 0.04%. This is a huge gain for Christina. Even with a right shift on Monday, she may keep her lead.

Kelli Linville's lead over Dan Pike has narrowed a bit more. The current numbers are, Kelli 11,115 to Dan 10,816, a lead of 299 votes or 1.36%. This is down from Thursday's lead of 406 votes and a 2.1% lead. By my arithmetic, there are about 4,300 more ballots to count for the mayor's election. Individual day counts have gone for both candidates. We'll maybe know the result on Tuesday afternoon. I say maybe, because this mayor's contest could easily go to less than half a percent difference and require a mandatory recount.

If the current trend continues, Kelli's lead will go from 299 down to about 120 or even fewer. A margin below about 132 votes will be less than a one half percent lead - and would require the mandatory recount. I'm just one junkie playing with the numbers, so don't take it too seriously. The two campaign staffs are probably doing the same tonight and probably using more complicated math.  Plus, they both probably have what are called "matchbacks" that tell them who voted late and this allows them to further predict the final counts.

Pete Kremen continues to increase his lead over Tony Larson, with over a 4% margin. Any right shift on Monday will probably not be enough to give Tony the lead.

Jack Louws continues to increase his winning margin over Doug Ericksen, now ahead by over 5,000 votes, or 10%. No doubts there.

Next up - 5 p.m. Monday. Let's hope 10,000 additional ballots are counted.
