Public Hearing tonight on Fairhaven Highlands
Public Hearing tonight on Fairhaven Highlands
Public comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Fairhaven Highlands is tonight, Tuesday, October 20 at 6 pm at the Whatcom County Courthouse.
You would not know that if you depended on your local daily newspaper - the Bellingham Herald. Not a word about it in today’s paper. Then again, the Herald does like those big Horizon Bank advertisements - and Horizon is the developer of the Highlands - or as we know it, Chuckanut Ridge or The Hundred Acre Wood. A low turnout would favor the developer. And the Herald needs more ads to survive.
Larry Horowitz has written a devastating article about the DEIS. The environmental statement is a bogus document that does not follow the law. You can read his article. It is listed in the center column.
When: Tonight - 6 pm - Tuesday, Oct 20
Where: Whatcom County Courthouse
Your only chance to speak out. Written comments will be accepted for a couple more weeks. Expect the good speakers to be muzzled within seconds of their 3 minutes. This is a war campaign as far as the developer is concerned. And they have enlisted the Herald as an ally. Hopefully we will have a report for you here later this week.
