Here is a story to read - if you want to be aware of how our freedoms are being taken away.   This is the next step in stripping away privacy.  Or perhaps just another bit of evidence that we have zero privacy now.  

Ladar Levison started the email service Lavabit about 10 years ago, providing secure email service.  He closed it last week - but is not allowed to tell us why.  He speaks out anyway - going dangerously close to violating the gag order he is under.  No crime - just a gag order that is probably under the Patriot Act.  But we don't know because he cannot say.  Saying as much as he has, he is probably in danger of being suddenly imprisoned and held in secrecy and isolation. 

Ladar spoke to Democracy Now and Ars Technica has a comprehensive article based on the video interview.  Read it while you can.  It may be ordered to be taken down.
