Update, Friday, 5:45 pm

An article has just been posted on the Herald site about Jorgensen being open to changing his position at next Tuesday's Port meeting.  John Stark wrote the article and quotes Jim extensively, along with several other Port staff and the other two commissioners.  It is a good article and John has scored nicely by getting Port people to talk with him.

Bellingham port commissioner says he could change his mind on director's fate

Watch the Herald for an article on Jim Jorgensen planning to reverse his vote on firing Charlie Sheldon.  Next day or two or three.

Now, this is just a gentle update and much can happen between now and next Tuesday.  But reports are favorable that the strong community support for Charlie Sheldon is having a positive effect.  Port Commissioner Jim Jorgensen is said to be seriously reconsidering his stance.  We may see something in the Herald sometime in the next few days.

Some are also spreading the word that if we attend next Tuesday's port meeting, we should cool it and be there to quietly support Jorgensen and the rehiring of Sheldon.   A supportive audience would be best so as to allow Jim Jorgensen and Mike McAuley to work on a positive solution.   Our focus for now is best on the rehiring of Charlie Sheldon, and bring back one of the best this town has ever had.

Tuesday's port meeting is at 3 p.m.  Executive session starts at 1 pm., but the public session starts at 3.
