Is this Dan Pike’s campaign strategy?
Is this Dan Pike’s campaign strategy?
by guest writer, Doug Starcher.
I don't claim to be a psychic, but Friday morning, August 12, I was sitting with a group of political watchers and I said Dan Pike has to do three things in the next 45 days to shore up his campaign after his poor showing in the primary:
1. Announce a deal for Chuckanut Ridge
2. Announce some deal on Galbraith Mountain
3. Announce ANYTHING about the GP/Waterfront
Imagine my surprise on Monday night, August 15, to hear the council authorize the purchase of Chuckanut Ridge.
Anyone want to weigh in on when the announcement will come on Galbraith Mountain?
The GP/Waterfront plans have been sitting on ice in the planning department for MONTHS waiting to go to the Planning Commission.
Perhaps a pool might be in order? There might be some cash to be made on the dates of these coming announcements.
I would love to hear a robust discussion on the merits of the Chuckanut Ridge purchase that included: WHY the rush? Was the price reasonable? Who ANY other buyer might have been. HOW we are going to pay for it? WHERE will the planned density for this site will go?
I have no doubt that after the Galbraith announcement all or most of the above questions about Chuckanut Ridge will also apply.
In the interest of full disclosure, I have contributed to and am working on Kelli Linville's campaign, and worked on and contributed to Dan Pike's first campaign.
