The Associated Press (AP) has created an interesting interactive chart measuring the economic stress by County.
According to the AP, Whatcom County has a Stress Index of 9.86 for March 2009, with unemployment at 8.8%, foreclosures at 0.4% and bankruptcies at 0.8%.
By comparison, Imperial County, CA is one of the most stressed with an index of 28.13, consisting of 28% unemployment, 3.3% foreclosure and 0.8% bankruptcy.
