Obviously I laughed my ass off, but there was lingering irony. 

The ballot proposition Stony Bird is championing at the Business Club has some legal problems and will likely never stand even in the unlikely event it passes.

Stony, et al, knows this well.  They are taking a longer term strategy, hoping to build support for structural change. Yet, troubling issues can emerge from deep structural change and these have not yet much been plumbed.

Here’s what I found ironic:  First, some force in Whatcom County has the wherewithal to run ads intentionally mocking the ballot proposition and its representative, and inviting conservative station listeners to attend a meeting.  All that effort and they can’t measure up some issue better than mole hills, puddles and assessing liability for damages. What, did some insurance agent think this stuff up?  It was embarrassingly shallow, even for satire.

Second irony: The most troubling issues that might emerge from stuff like Stony’s initiative are likely to advance the causes of those mocking him even more than his own.

What can I say?  It just took some of the joy out of having that good laugh.

we could start a southeast Fairhaven bussiness club and run mocking promos on 930 AM but Cascade Radio group would still get the revenue.
